local holidaying in Egypt

My family and I are looking for an inexpensive holiday outside of Cairo. I love Dahab but want to try something new. Can't afford the usual tourist resorts, but would like to visit Ain Sokhna or el Gouna. Are there less expensive motels, camps, etc there? Or does anyone know if we can rent a flat for a week at a good price?
