French fiance to be transferred back to Paris

I am an American woman who is facing a very difficult situation. My French fiance who presently lives in New York is most likely to be transferred to Paris by his company in the next 2 months. We live in New York and I have a wonderful and successful career that I love and do not want to leave. We even began preparing for our wedding 2 months ago! It seems to me that I really have no choice but to pick up and move to Paris with him. As exciting and romantic as it may sound, or as my friends think it sounds, I am petrified. Please, can someone offer some advice to me? I of course know nothing about immigration laws and what exactly my status would be over there once we are married. Thank you ....
