Legal Fees

We are expats-to-be, hoping to move from GB to France within the next year. Is there anyone out there who has gone through the move who can give me an idea as to legal fees for a property which is fairly straight forward? The solicitor we have chosen has quoted us £200 an hour which we feel is way over the top. We need to take this into account when choosing a home as we don't want any nasty surprises at the end of it all. Any advice will be gratefully received.
