getting my expectations in check!

I was hoping for some advice on what is realistic in Paris!

Ive managed to get the children in a school which happens to be in the most expensive part of Paris - it would seem - Croissy-Sur-Seine - UGH! Im a little worried about rental prices now.
Is it unreasonable to find a house with a garage and dishwasher plus 4 bedrooms? what would I expect to pay? How much trust should I put into the relocation company? (we had a bad experience with the last one!)
And is it true that you must be able to make a split second decision wether or not to take the house during the viewing?
There seems to be a lot of advice for Americans but I haven't found much for British....Any suggestions?

I expect living in Paris is a completely different ballgame if you have no children...what advice has anyone with 3 teenage boys!
