Finding a job in France

Hey,

I'm an American undergrad student, and I'm looking to move to somewhere in Bouches-du-Rhone in 12 or 18 months to be with my girlfriend while she finishes school. My French is nearly nonexistent at the moment, but I'm beginning to take classes and should have at least enough French to get by on a day-to-day basis once I am there.

I have no concerns about the transition, finding friends, a place to live, etc., since my girlfriend has lived in France all of her life and has those angles pretty well covered. I am however going to need to work and I understand that I'll need to find the job before I arrive. I'm wondering how likely I am to find a job as someone with only basic French but fluent English. I'm not looking for anything glamorous, since I only plan to live there for a maximum of 2 years. It just needs to be something to help pay the rent.

Are there any points advice or suggestions you out there could give me about finding this sort of job?

Thanks in advance,

Paul
