kiwi expats

My kiwi husband and I (I own dual passports UK/NZ) are planning to retire this year and would like to live in france for about 12 - 18 months. We would have own income but would like to conserve money by house sitting. How do we go about getting hubby into france and what is our best bet for health insurance. We are 60 yrs old and at the moment very fit and presently living in the middle east.
