My husband and I are moving from Canada to Nice, France. My husband has been offered a job there as a researcher. His job is guaranteed, but a job for me is not. Therefore, we are basing what we can afford on his earnings, which would be 2,200 Euros a month.
We posted an ad on another site (angloinfo.com) and most of what we are getting are people asking 900 Euros a month and up. I don't think we can afford that, but we also cannot rent a studio as it is far too small. I've seen several photos and they only have two ring stoves and no oven. There would DEFINITELY NOT be enough room for all our kitchenware and clothes and not to mention our bed (which we NEED because my husband is too tall for most normal beds, plus it is brand new). In addition to that, now that we are returning to Europe our families will be wanting to visit more often and some of them would find it hard to afford a hotel.
We're thinking an apartment costing between 600 and 700 Euros a month would probably be best for us. Can anybody out there give us any help or advice?
P.S. We cannot afford to go through an agent as moving from Canada to France is already 5,000 and having to pay several months' rent up-front would mean all our savings are gone and there would be no money to live on for a month.
