Getting settled in France

Hello everyone,

I am Canadian and I'm planning to get married in Paris (to a Frenchman). I know there is a law that you have to be in the country for a minimum of 40 days before the wedding date, but I'd like some advice from someone who has done this before - or who might be in the same boat as me?
How long do you think it takes to get the proper papers to start working?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
