Dual taxation France/US

I am considering doing my own taxes. I am in my 30s working as a consultant in France (wife/child). I understand the basic principles of the treaty, but not really the details. A few quick questions:
1) Has anyone done there taxes for both US/France on their own in this situation
2) My understanding is that you use the "salaire Brut" as your income, but DO NOT count the "charge sociale" as taxes. If that's the case, it seems like it will be fairly easy for the US taxes to be more than my French taxes especially as my family grows

Curious to hear anyone else's thoughts/learnings as they have done their taxes
