motor insurance in france

Hi, could anyone give me advice on motor insurance as im taking my vehicle with me when we permanently move to France.I've been told to run on my uk insurance for the first 30 days then transfer it to a French insurance company .Also any advice with how you set an account up with the french autoroute systems .Any advice would a great help ,with thanks ,Richard
