need housing for 4 in France, late Aug 2010-Dec 2010

Hello,
We are 2 university professors (biology and ESL teacher prep) with 2 young children looking for a house exchange/rent/house sitting situation in France for a sabbatical. We are writing up our research, so we are not tied to a place - we can be anywhere. I speak decent French (and Spanish) and we'd like the children to get a taste of life "elsewhere" and hear another language. We live on a farm in Virginia, and we enjoy both the countryside and the city. Either would be fine for us. Preferably, we would like to be near a university (or within driving distance) in France so we can collaborate on small projects with professors there.

Any suggestions? I have my home on 2 exchange websites, but no luck so far. Thank you for your suggestions!
