American marrying an Algerian in France

I'm an American living and working in the US. My fiancée is Algerian, living and working in France (on a carte de séjour). We're planning on marrying in France and eventually residing in the US. I've read all the documents regarding an American getting married in France. The process seems pretty straightforward, though what I have read seems to be written specifically towards marrying a French citizen in France.

I have a couple of questions if anyone has experience:

1) Is there anything procedurally different with marrying a foreign resident in France, as opposed to marrying a French citizen in France?

2) Am I correct in assuming that getting married in France seems an easier route than petitioning via a K1 / fiancé visa for her to come to the US to get married?
