Voluntary National Insurance contributions: free of social taxes?

My wife who retired early when we moved, is paying voluntary national insurance contributions to the UK to ensure that she will get a full pension when she reaches retirement age.
It seems wrong that we pay social taxes in France on this element of our income as this is her form of 'social tax' already being paid to the UK.
Can we claim this money should be exempt in France under the 'double taxation' treaty?
If so, how could we go about doing this?
