Moving to France from Canada with 4 kids

Hello everyone,
I am considering moving to France (or possibly Spain) in September with my 4 kids and I would love to get advice from anyone who has done this. My kids are school age but I am finding the cost of international schools out of my price range. I would love to chat with someone who has put their English speaking kids in a local school. Or if you have other options to suggest that would be great. We have no restrictions on where we can live because we are not moving for a job just a great year or two of culture and learning a new language.
