Your search on where to move in France?

My husband and I are pretty set on moving to Nice, France later this year, but once we settle in we are planning to explore the country a little before making a final decision, partly because we are concerned about the hot, humid and super touristy summers in Nice. I am wondering if forum readers would share where they chose to live, and why? Cities we have already visiting include Aix en Provence, Beaune, Bordeaux and of course Nice and environs. We are planning on visiting Sète, Montpellier, Toulouse and Rennes for a start. Thank you.
