Moving to France in summer 2021

Hello!

My family and I are planning a move to France, Angouleme, in the summer of 2021. We have two children who will be starting middle school at that time and will be turning 11 years old. Anyone have experience with making such a move and how complicated will it be since we will not be sponsored by a company. My husband speaks French, but my children and I do not at this time. Any advice would be appreciated.
