I would be grateful to hear some advice about therapy and how it works here in France as I am confused by the social security/mutuelle system,
I had a rough time 6 months ago due to a horrible boss in my last job and went to my GP in france asking about the option of therapy help rather than just anti depressant medication.
I have a carte vitale and a really good mutuelle here,
I was given a number by him for a therapist and each 50 minute session I attended I had to pay 60euro only in cash or cheque, My carte vitale was never taken nor my mutuelle requested.
I have not been able to keep up therapy as the cost was too much for me, after rent bills and the therapy per month I barely had enough to survive.
Can someone please advise me how I can get therapy here covered by the social security or my mutuelle, I will probably need the therapy in English as my French is not at a level I could explain my situation, Is this the reason maybe I've had to pay out of pocket because English therapy is possibly regarded as specialist?
I am getting very upset with the system here. I just recently needed a virtual colonoscopy here to check if i have cancer. I was given a prescription to get my prep medicine and dyes and also part of it was to buy equipment for the technician for the procedure. I spent 47euro and nothing is reimbursed, It makes me really upset and confused. If you had a car accident and needed surgery does the surgeon ask you to go out to the pharmacy and buy his scalpel?
What makes me upset is that I have a French friend here who bragged about her mother's mutuelle having a clause to get a 2 week health spa so she faked that she was under stress to go on his 'holiday' yet I can't get to see a therapist when I am on the verge of a breakdown,
This does not seem fair to me.
Any help and advice greatly appreciated.
