South of France With Kids

I’m a single Mom with a 6 year old looking for a good place to land. Somewhere with lots of historic architecture, parks and houses with yards, and not too far from the ocean (a 20 min bus ride or train ride away). Also, good international school with classes in both eñEnglush and French from early on (I.e. not just starting a second language in High School). Any recommendations?
