Expat Information on Germany

Hello, My name is Bill and my wife is Xochitl (Sochi). We are looking for information, from expats, concerning your experience in Germany. We wish to retire to Germany, probably within the year. We want to locate in the Southern part of Germany. As a kid, I lived in Heidelburg and Heibron for a total of six years. Sure, I can peruse the net and find the info I want but, I wanted to hear it from those that are already there. So, if ya'll would indulge me, I have some questions.
Q1. What is a comfortable monetary amount to have in a savings/checking account and is there a minimum requirement for each?
Q2. What are the health insurance requirements?
Q3. Is there a per person amount or a combined amount of income required to be able to live in Germany?
Q4. Must we have a residence already in place or does that mater?
Q5. How many months or years must we stay in place before we can become residents and or citizens?
Q6. Once we become a resident, how often do we need to re-apply before we can become a citizen? Thank you.
