We are moving to Guatemala - sight unseen!

We're doing it. We're packing up and moving the family to Guatemala for at least six months, probably one year. We plan to rent for a couple of months while we look 'round at property to purchase. We've looked at rental property listings and are getting a little confused. Should we assume that the prices listed for a rental property in San Lucas Sacatepequez is a monthly rental....or woud it be a weekly rental?

Next query....anybody know how to transport a dog into Guatemala. We are driving down with household material on our backs....and we believe we'll have no problem getting into Mexico from the U.S. with little doggie in tow.....but we don't quite know how to get from Mexico into Guatemala....all shots/examinations of the dog must be performed in the U.S. within 72 hours of crossing the Guatemalan border. This doesn't seem possible. Anyone have any ideas?
