Hi. Thanks to everyone who answered with support about rentals in Pana. I have narrowed down to a couple of great places and just want to check in about neighborhoods and walking to town because we will not have a car.
First, we found a great place above the market. This place is in a local neighborhood. The landlord has been very helpful and responsive to my many questions. I will be working off of Calle del Rio near the lake. I am wondering what kind of walk that will be during the rainy season. I think it will be about 20 minutes each way. Does that sound right? My rainy season experience is in San Pedro where the streets flood quickly to ankle depth. Is that true for Pana, too?
Second, we have seen some nice looking places in Jucanya/Barrio Norte. I am not able to predict the walk down to the lake from there as the google map seems to go off the roads. Thoughts?
Finally, I've identified a space that looks very comfortable down the road towards Santa Catarina Palopo. Would you consider that a non-starter for someone working in Pana without a car? Is it safe to travel tuk-tuk transport on the road out there after dark given potholes, etc? How bad is the travel during the rain? Would a bike work?
We are arriving with pets in tow from the US which is why I want to have a place kind of lined-up to get us started. Otherwise, we would plan to wait and look when we are on the ground.
Thanks in advance.
