Driving To Guatemala from Canada

Next week my wife and I will be driving to Guatemala from Canada (Ontario). Currently freezing to death up here.

Wondering if members might share some tips about crossing the borders, routes, etc.... We have a lot of information but don't know what is current, correct etc... Might help others thinking of doing the same this winter season.

We plan on only driving during the day. Staying at hotels. We are in no rush. Will most likely cross through Brownsville. Car is late model which we'll later import and keep at our house.
