Driving into Honduras

I know this is going to sound crazy, but Hubby and I are going to drive down from TX when we make our move. We don't want to "ship" our dogs, and they travel well, so we thought we would take our time and drive. Here is my question - we are converting a van into an RV. But can we drive an older van into the country? Everything says we can't import anything over 7 years old, so I need to make sure! Thanks all!
