American in County Cavan

Hello - My employer has offered me a position in County Cavan. I've done a little research, and this seems to be an very rural area. I'd like to live in a more populated town as I am in my 20's and sinigle (from the midwest in the states). Is Dundalk my best bet? Google maps suggests that it is within an hour of Cavan - is that correct? Thanks!
