Retired Military would like to move

We are not quite ready yet, but we think about moving to Ireland often. My husbands Grandparents are from there. I think he still has relatives there. By the time we would be ready to go we would have his military retirement. He retired as an 06 (Captain in the Navy or Colonel if you are more familiar with the other services) and he gets cost of living raises. Right now it is about 71,000 a year before taxes. We are still supporting 3 children and their college etc. Between that and all the taxes they take. There is nothing left currently. It is maddening. We will have social security on top of that if we move so we would not have to work. I think I can manage to get a secondary insurance to use with our Tricare (we can use our Tricare anywhere in the world but it is only 85% without a secondary.) I don't know how taxes will change if we decided to make the move. There is so much we don't know. We should be able to live comfortably between his military retirement and social security. Anything anyone would like to say would be appreciated.
