killarney National Park (gap year)

Hi, I am a 58 year old man, technically homeless, unemployed and just about to conclude my divorce after 31 years of marriage. I deserve a break and I have a plan.

The divorce was amicable and as cheap as we could make it, she got the house and I got the land. The land was a plot of ancient woodland which I have now sold. I am a very keen amateur wildlife photographer and have been thinking that I could afford to take a year out and go somewhere beautiful and learn about it. In that year I want to establish a little internet interest using my photographs to promote a blog supporting advertising and an on line affiliate store. I hope to produce a small income from this that will help to supplement my income in the years ahead. Mostly I just hope to have fun.

There are many beautiful places in the UK that would suit this purpose but Killarney has caught my imagination.

I am looking for any pitfalls in my adventurous plan.

I would like to rent a property. Without proof of earnings in the UK I would simply pay the term of the lease in advance. I have noticed that whilst we tend to favour short term leases Ireland seems to look for a one year minimum and that most of the properties seem to furnished. A one year lease would not be a problem to me.

I have probably got enough cash to get my website professionally designed and then to support myself for two years but not through retirement and so I am thinking one year just take a break.

Any advice or warnings will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Colin
