Calculate shipping cost to Ireland

10 years ago
I knew I did not want to ship an entire household bc our US electronics are worthless in Ireland and the rest our stuff wasn't THAT valuable.
I requested a quote for a box of 64 cubic feet (1.81 m) from Toledo Oh USA to Cork. A pound (lb) is roughly 2kg. Here's what they quoted;

Pick up cost is .55 per pound or you can drop off to us. (Distance to drop off point unk)
Sea shipping to Cork terminal is $260 per cubic meter or any fraction above a meter plus $50 handling fee, flat fee.
Note, custom clearance has to be completed in Dublin. If we handle the custom clearance add $210 or you can handle it.
Ireland sea terminal fees are about $130 per cubic meter, minimum $300 but charged there in local currency..

At that rate 64 cu ft (4x4x4 ft) would be about $1000 Usd.
As we would be renting for years, I think we'll take a few suitcases and call it good. All we really need to bring are photographs, some clothes and a few other bits.
