Planning to study/work over summer

I took a class last summer in Dublin about Irish drama. Really, I was there because I'd studied James Joyce earlier in my Master's studies and wanted to see the city that interacts with Joyce's characters. Dublin was ok for tracing one of my favorite books, but I feel in love with the west.

We spent some time in Galway working on research. I met my boyfriend on a whim in a pub (truth: I already loved the city, the man added to that feeling.) it's been six months of long distance and visits to each other. I got him to visit the US for the first time. But we'd like to shorten that distance...

My plan to apply for a creative writing master's degree is in Ireland already set in motion, but we want to try to figure out how to be reunited sooner.

I understand that the job market is worse than in the United States. So I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for finding short term summer work on a holiday visa. Like I'm not above scrubbing floors, washing sheets, working a till, or waiting tables.

Any other suggestions would be welcome. I realize the odds are against us and that I'm probably mad for making something work out of love and shared intellectual infatuation, but I'd never forgive myself if I sat back and didn't try to bridge this gap between us.
