Determining my tax residency in Ireland

I'm an American but have French residency. French residency is not recognized in Ireland (most EU countries allow one EU resident to move to another EU country but Ireland doesnt participate). Given the new 50K Euro income requirement, I won't be moving to Ireland full time until that is resolved (if ever). However, I could live in France half time and Ireland half time (even if I had to do Ireland just 90 days at a time).

My question is: is it possible to become an Ireland tax resident without becoming an 'ordinary' resident or domicile resident? I see on the Citizens page that anyone who lives 280 days over 2 years time becomes a tax resident. Since I would be in Ireland about 300 days over two years, will that make me a tax resident? I would actually prefer to be a tax resident there.

However I am self employed and would need to sign up my business in Ireland and perhaps they would not allow me to do that without official residency.

Can anyone help me sort this out? Or can you offer me a referral to an expert who can answer this question? Thank you.
