Ireland...Pick a Place For A noob

Greetings Fellow Campers....Fair Waring ...NooB on the horizon

And of course NO ONE has ever asked this question !!!! :

So, Dual Citizen...retired...wife will retire in 7-10 years...seriously considering Ireland as an alternative to a place in the States.
We all know the reasons why...politics, health costs, property taxes, etc
The question, of course, is where ?
The idea of the thatched cottage overlooking the ocean is wonderful, and not at all practical for us creeky old types. So we must get all practical and stuff. Some of the priorities are Healthcare, Transportation, nearby shopping (day to day stuff), a smattering of restaurants, pubs, etc, enough population to be considered a good sized village or town up to a small city...and so it goes.. While Dublin would be nice, the cost is out of our range. We have a bit of an eye on Cork area, Limerick, Wexford, or Waterford but we are wide open to suggestions. Everyones expertise will be duly noted and receive gold stars for the day !

Many thanks !!
