Buying a property in Co donegal

Hi I am looking to buy a property in Ireland to retire to. The property is habitable but part ruin. In england we normally just get a surveyor and solicitor to do the checks, What is the norm in Ireland, what do i need to watch out for? Any advise on properties that have been empty for some time? Also costs of those checks? Thank you
