Yankee Grad Student

Hello all, I'm a female American who will be moving/studying in Ireland starting in 08/2019. I have always wanted to move to Ireland and I'm so excited to finally be doing that! I will be studying at DCU to obtain a MA in Sexuality Studies. As any good grad student knows research is key, which I have read many expat blogs and read many articles but I still have questions. The first and foremost is how much should I plan to have in the bank when I apply for a student visa? Second, how much do I realistically need in order to live comfortably? Third, how difficult is it to find housing with a dog (I have a 7 year old yellow lab who is well behaved)? Are there any laws against housing with an animals? Here in the States, it is almost impossible to find housing with a dog unless they are some kind of service dog; which she is (an emotional support animal). Can I expect the same or is it a little easier? Every roommate and landlord I have had with her has agreed to write a reference for her.
Any suggestions or comments about my questions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, y'all!
