Where to live?

I understand that the housing shortage in Cork - near city center is quite real. My husband is being transferred there and we will need somewhere for 4 people (2 adults, 2 children) and 2 dogs. What areas should we look? I have one primary-aged daughter and one secondary aged daughter. So schools will factor in... I am very nervous about finding anything.
