Hi folks,
Hopefully in the final stages of making the move to Ireland from UK with one or two remaining questions/hurdles.
Currently in the early stages of buying a derelict cottage with no mortgage required.
My hope was to continue with a UK bank account until habitable then applying for Irish account using utility bill from this address.
That option may still work but weekend press is confirms some UK banks are closing accounts/cards without notice for EU ex pats ,not sure how far this extends or which banks remain.
Next obstacle is the end of the UK transition period in December, from AIB's website:
"We will be treating the UK as an EU/EEA country until the end of the transition period scheduled in December 2020."
Its possible but unlikely that I will have proof of residency by this time, after which my EU status will be lost.
It seems a bit Catch 22 at the moment.
Thanks
