making the move to Ireland?

What are the toughest things about moving in your mid-40s? We have two teenagers- our oldest really dislikes living in America and is determined to attend college abroad (we're visiting schools in Ireland and Scotland this August), I am growing increasingly desperate to leave the US, and our 7th grader would miss friends but is totally game to move. My husband is less intrigued by an international relocation but we lived in Amsterdam for a while during graduate school and loved it so I think he can be convinced.

What is the best way to start looking for jobs? My husband is a CFO with a tech startup background. I have my own business that can be done from anywhere.

I am most interested in the Dublin or Cork areas. Want people and culture but also nature.

We are getting close to obtaining our Italian citizenship- how much does EU citizenship help in this process?

Thank you for any advice.
