Lodging in Bologna

Hello,

I am having a difficult time finding a place to stay in Bologna during the first week of April. A group of us are hoping to go for a trade fair, but it sounds like the fair is the reason all of the hotels are booked. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to stay? I've heard in Italy, sometimes private families will rent out extra rooms. Is this true?
