Moving To Trani - Need Nuts and Bolts Advice

Hi:

I am moving from Napa, CA to Trani on March 15 with my one year old son and my wife.

Can anyone suggest a simple way to handle banking? If I open an account here with Citicorp, can I transfer funds from USA to local branch in Rome and write Italian checks?

I'm thinking about buying a used car. Bad idea? Is there a simple way to get auto insurance?

I'm gonna rent until I'm convinced I love the place. I've seen some listings on the internet, but I think they are old as I get no response. Gotta geta visual anyways. Maybe its just me.... But any help would be appreciated.
