eligible for passport/citizenship?

Hi,

I was born in Livorno to American parents living there with the US Military. I am currently living in the UK, on a work permit but am interested in exploring the possibility of moving (back) to Italy. I did get my US citizenship when I was a child. I am now 49 years old and only lived in Italy until I was about 2.5 years old. I have an Italian birth certificate.

Is there a possibility I could get an Italian passport?
