American pregnant with Italian baby

Hi there. I am an American living in the U.S. and just found out that I am 6 weeks pregnant. The father is an Italian citizen who lives in Italy. We are trying to find information on the possibility of my moving to Italy and obtaining a permesso di soggiorno based on the fact that I will be the mother of an Italian citizen. Anyone have any ideas on how I can find this out? Grazie mille.
