Staying in Italy indefinitely without a visa

I'd appreciate comments regrading whether or not --especially during these politically charged days, obsessed with immigration issues-- it's possible to enter Italy from the U.S. for the usual 90 days... and then...w/o acquiring a visa of any kind... crossing a given border for, say, one day, cross back into Italy... and stay for another 90 days... ad infinitum... without any problems/dangers from the authorities. Please write to me directly at [email protected], if you like. I'm more likely to read your response there. Grazie mille, Richardo
