Best area in Italy for work as a pattern cutter?

Hello!

I have my heart set on moving to Italy in the next 6 months or so, I am seeking some advice on the best location for work opportunities and visa info.

I work in fashion as a pattern cutter in London – first thought would be Milan but after looking on line for jobs they seem to be elsewhere, (which I suits me as I would prefer to be somewhere not so industrial – preferably near a beach). The main areas I see jobs advertised are Florence and Emilia Romagna with a few scattered around other northern areas. I would appreciate any advice on best work locations for pattern cutting.

As I am from New Zealand I am entitled to a working holiday visa which is valid for 1 year, however it is aimed at the holiday maker wishing to top up their travel fund and so it only entitles you to work for 6 months and only 3 months at any one company which is quite restricting. Does anyone know how easy it is to gain sponsorship from an employer or what the best way would be to be able to work long term in Italy?? Also can anyone recommend a good fashion recruitment agency or am I best to approach companies directly?

I would ideally like to combine a great job with an outdoor lifestyle preferably near a beach or mountains...asking too much perhaps...?

Also finally...I have basic Italian (I can read and follow the general idea of most conversations but my spoken Italian is poor – needs practise!!) I would like to go to Italy purely to earn Italian for 2-4 weeks before relocating; can anyone recommend a great school for this? I’m not fussed about the area although if it was in an area I could do some research about suitable employment and housing while I’m there that would be fab!

Thanks in advance for your help with my many questions!!!
