Legal TEFL Positions for Americans in Italy

I'm going to enroll in a TEFL Program in the States in October. I would like to move to Northern Italy to be closer to my boyfriend who lives in Legnago. However, based on everything I have seen on the internet it seems practically impossible for an American to obtain a legal position as a TEFL teacher in Italy. I'm sure there are American Expats who have legal jobs as TEFL teachers. And I hope that any of them who read my post can give me advice on how they obtained their job.
