Wills and related questions

I am a dual citizen, living in the US and planning to move to Italy within the next year. I will be moving by myself and wondering how people handle their wills (e.g. do you have one in the US and one in Italy?) and what procedures do I put in place should something happen while I am living in Italy? For instance, how are people back home are notified, and how do I handle these details so I rest assured knowing that things are in place, if needed? Not a comfortable, but important topic.
