Ongoing realtionship with state in US

When I am a full-time resident of Italy, is there any ongoing relationship with the state (e.g. Massachusetts) where I may maintain a mailing address with relatives or when I must report interest income from Italian bank accounts? How about a will that was established in a state where you once lived? When I file taxes in the US, will it be only with the feds (not the state)? It sounds like a simple answer is coming; but right now I'm confused. Aiuta mi per favore.
