Insuring/securing a property in Italy

I am in the process of purchasing an apartment in Siracusa. The deed should be transfefred around August 1. I would like to have some kind of insurance on the property, in addition maybe a security company that would check the apartment periodically.
I will be using the apartment only around 3 times a year, each time for 1-3 weeks.
Does anyone have any experience with such arrangements?
