US Credit Card Use Overseas

Whenever I've vacationed overseas, I tell my credit card issuers where I will be traveling and for how long. That way they don't shut down the card for suspected fraud. However, I expect to be living in Italy soon on a permanent basis. I plan on using a mail forwarding service that will give me a US mailing address. Will the card issuers be OK with that? If I tell them that I will be residing in Italy, will I lose privileges? I could use an address of a relative in the US if that helps. Anyone have any direction on this?
