Drawbacks to Residency?

Hi! I am getting ready to apply for residency, but before I do, I am wondering if there are any drawbacks, as I am still considering whether I will remain in Trieste long term? I know once I apply, I will be subject to taxes (possibly on my S.S. - this is still a mystery - met with a very smart Commercialista, who didn't know, but said she will research it). My insurance with the Affordable Health Care Act expires in November. I'll have to give it up once I make a permanent move, but will be in Trieste way past November, so that may not matter - but knowing I have access to it does give me a sense of security - however obscure.
