Ciao a tutti! My wife and I have rented an apartment in Lucca for Jan & Feb. We are flying into Milano and have rented a car to use for a few days. My first question is there are two routes to Lucca, which route is more scenic? From the map it appears we can take either the central route, to Lucca via Parma. Or the route to Genoa and then along the coast to Lucca. Also, we will not check into our apartment until the next day so we will stay somewhere along the route from Milan to Lucca. Can you recommend a village or town along the way that should not be missed?
For March we are still undecided as to where to go. Leaning towards spending it exploring Sardinia or perhaps Puglia, where I visited when i was a 16 year old student. For the record we have been to Italy a number of times but not for this length of time and we have spend quite a bit of time in Campania. We will be on a 90 day visa and exploring areas to try and establish residency later in the year.
