length of lease for residency

I thought I'd better start a new topic about this. I've searched the forums and have not found a specific answer for this question. Maybe there is not one answer!

What is the minimum length of lease for an apartment that will be accepted as establishing residency in Italy?

The qualifiers on this include (1) I am an Italian citizen (dual citizen) who recently move permanently to Italy, and (2) I'm referring to residency for the purpose of applying for my carta d'identita and subsequently, for health insurance (the SSN).

I read in one place a minimum of one year lease is needed (thank you Sergios!). An Italian realtor said either a 3+2 or a 4+4 year contract is required. I hope that's not true.

Someone else reported that they got some kind of verification from the comune in which they obtained their citizenship, but it wasn't clear whether they also owned or rented property in Italy. If there's more about this that I need to know, can someone fill me in?

Thanks!
