Divorce in Italy

Hello everyone,

I'd like some help with my divorce in Italy, here are the facts that will hopefully help you understand where I'm coming from:

I'm an Italian citizen married to a foreign citizen, our marriage happened in Italy when we both lived there, we have separated over 3 years ago and she has returned to her country.

I am now living abroad but we will both be in Italy soon and we'd like to take this opportunity to file for divorce in the same comune that we got married.

From what I've read online, we will need to book an appointment in the comune, fill in a declaration (Dichiarazione sostitutiva di certificazione per separazione) and go to the comune, then visit the Ufficiale di Stato Civile for a second time after 30 days to officiate the divorce.

My question is in regards to none of us living in Italy right now, would this be an issue?

The dichiarazione sostitutiva asks for an address, would my address abroad be ok?

If not, considering that this is a unique opportunity (both of us in Italy for over 30 days) to get this done, what would be the best course of action?

Thank you very much for your time and knowledge.
